Friday Knight News
It seems that readers of my book "Enlightenment Kicking and Screaming: A story about the paradox of martial art training." have been enamored with either the concept of the MAKA KNIGHTS or Mushin University. In reality there is no separation between the two. You cannot be a graduate of Mushin University without being a Knight of the martial arts. Likewise you cannot be a Knight of the martial arts without the lifelong study for improvement that Mushin University represents.
I receive many requests for trademarked Mushin University degrees from readers, and membership to the MAKA Knights. I have outlined in the book the requirements for these martial art degrees. They are based on the study from your local martial art college and the endorsement of your teachers. The license for your martial art degrees come from what you earn through your styles teaching.

I would like to thank Kay Frances Brewer for the following kind words she wrote about my book.
"This is a book that will appeal to people of all levels.
Whether you are a student of martial arts or not, the wisdom contained within
applies to all matters of living. When asked, “What type of training does it
take to become a mystic?” The Sensei replied, “A mystic should have a base
knowledge of Ninso and an absurd sense of humor.” Indeed, R. David Lawrence
sneaks in a delightful sense of humor among all of the ancient wisdom he
dispenses. “A person needs to know their place in the cosmos especially when
they are caught up in a life and death situation.” The same can be said for
daily living and that is the beauty of this book. It helps the reader to
understand their place in the cosmos, or at least know how to begin the journey
to finding that understanding. R. David Lawrence deftly combines Biblical
truths with ancient eastern wisdom and leaves us all taking a look at the
makings of our souls, our personal codes, and our belief systems. Always humble
and never preachy, the writer simply lays out the universe as he understands
it, leaving us with more questions than answers. As the old saying goes, “When
the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” Using the paradigm of a martial
arts master teaching his students, this book will leave us all wondering how
someone on this dimension got so wise." Kay Frances Brewer, Yon Dan
